The Humane Society shelter was within the tornado damage area where some of the worst damage occured. Fortunately the building is intact, the animals are safe inside, and we are able to assist both people and animals in need. While the interior of the shelter is safe for animals and people, the exterior of the shelter building was not as fortunate and suffered damage from flying debris and tornado winds. Windows, doors, siding, fencing, roofing, signage, a lawn mower and a security camera were damaged.  If you wish to Help the Humane Society, please make a tax deductible donation:

We've never received a telephone call from a cat or dog asking for help!
Companion animals require the assistance of people to obtain the help they need. The animals are not able to call for help, they need the help of compassionate people to make the contacts, make the calls, and provide the services and support so the animals will receive the care they need. Like the animals, the Wadena County Humane Society depends on the support from compassionate people like you to help the animals. Each year, the Wadena County Humane Society holds special events to raise money necessary to operate the animal shelter.       All fundraising events are made possible with the generous donations from local volunteers, businesses, and the many event participants.

In the passing of time, donations have been given both in memory of People to Remember and of Pets to Remember. Humane Society Plans Expansion of Services and Facility 
The first 11 years have been very challenging for the Wadena County Humane Society. For over a decade, the Wadena County Humane Society has been housing animals to meet the needs of Wadena County and the surrounding area. The fact of the matter is, the shelter is not able to keep up with the demand for shelter space. Wadena County and the surrounding area has an ongoing and increasing problem with unwanted pets, lost pets, and families in life changing events which force them to seek new homes for their family pet. This in turn, means that the Wadena County Humane Society shelter is continually at maximum capacity.

In order to address the demands of so many displaced animals in Wadena County, the Wadena County Humane Society plans to expand the current shelter facility. Even though some supplies and labor may be donated for this expansion project, the costs will be substantial. In order to help defray these costs, the Wadena County Humane Society kindly asks for your support. The Wadena County Humane Society is committed to support the needs of Wadena County, but in order to succeed in our expansion, we need the support of the community, we need your individual support.
